About Donald Dinella
Don’s professional background includes serving as the Chief IP Counsel & VP, Global IP Operations for Alcatel-Lucent’s intellectual property & Standards organization having worldwide responsibility for the licensing and business development, patent prosecution, and patent portfolio management, IP law services, and IP strategy functions.
In this capacity, he managed a diverse group of professionals consisting of IP lawyers, business and technical personnel. He began his career with AT&T as a manufacturing engineer thereafter holding positions in the Intellectual Property Division as a Licensing Manager and Law Division as a patent attorney. In 1996, he joined Lucent Technologies where he handled a wide variety of IP legal assignments including IP transactional matters and patent prosecution. In 2006, with the merger between Alcatel and Lucent Technologies, he was named VP, Licensing, intellectual property & Standards.
Don holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, an M.S. in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Brigham Young University, and a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law.
In his free time, Don likes to enjoy golfing, watching sports, listening to music, meditating, and walking on the beach with his wife.
